ABOUT SANDSTONE PICTURES

Sandstone Pictures is a documentary film studio focused on human stories shaped by place, effort, and time. Rooted in the natural world and the communities connected to it, our work explores what emerges when people commit themselves fully—to a landscape, to a craft, or to one another. We believe the most meaningful stories aren’t manufactured; they’re discovered through patience, presence, and trust.

IN DEPTH

ROOTED IN PLACE

Landscape is never just a backdrop. It influences behavior, tests resolve, and quietly shapes the people who move through it. Our films treat place as a living element of the story—something to be understood, respected, and experienced alongside the characters.

CENTERED ON PEOPLE

We focus on individuals and communities who show up, do the work, and carry history forward. By taking the time to listen and embed ourselves in the environments we film, we build stories grounded in authenticity, humility, and lived experience.

BUILT WITH INTENT

Every project is approached with care—from early conversations through final delivery. We value thoughtful pacing, restrained storytelling, and craft that serves the story rather than drawing attention to itself. The goal is work that feels honest, timeless, and earned.

ABOUT GREGG DUNHAM

Gregg is a documentary filmmaker and storyteller drawn to stories shaped by effort, nature, and resilience. His work focuses on people and communities navigating challenge—often in rugged or transitional landscapes—where perseverance reveals something deeper about the human experience.

Born with Spina Bifida, Gregg is also an endurance athlete, an experience that has shaped his perspective on physical and mental resilience and quietly informs the stories he’s drawn to tell. His approach to filmmaking is rooted in collaboration and trust, prioritizing presence over performance and long-term relationships over quick results.

director's statement

I’m drawn to stories shaped by effort, by nature, by people, and by the quiet resilience it takes to keep going when no one’s watching. The landscapes I’m drawn to influence behavior and test resolve, revealing what unfolds over time: patience, adaptability, and perseverance.

I approach filmmaking through collaboration and trust, working closely with the people and communities I film to create space for authenticity to surface naturally.
